Don't let it get you down. There's a difference between being raised by a single mother who is single by her crappy life choices, and one who had her husband taken from her by death. In general, she's less likely to have made crap life decisions to bring herself to that point. Which means she's probably a better mother than the average single mother, Strong Independent Woman, Lorelai Gillore type.

And being aware that there are potential deficiencies in your upbringing, you can look to shore those up yourself actively. Seek out positive male role models and mentors, stay on the path. You can do it.

Not having a father around does not preclude you from seeking out adult male role models. The most important thing is that you have positive male examples in your life. Uncles, neighbors, family friends. I’m sorry you don’t have a father around, but don’t let that make you think that you will automatically be operating at a deficit. I hope you find the support you need. Good on you for bringing it up here.

This is by design, they hope to grind down our willpower and make us feel ashamed of ourselves for even existing so we don't resist them when they roll over us and tell us all how to live. The correct response, while harsh, is to simply tell these sorts of people to fuck off either way.

Well you should try putting things into context. People talk about the effects of fatherlesness around here to try to reduce those cases where it is preventable, not to shit on people that had no choice in the matter.

Hey man that's really rough I know how it is, raised by single mother who worked 2 jobs. Literally raised myself. Don't ever let the presence or absence of a person deter you from being who you want to be.
