I think you have to have a pretty rigid and inflexible construction of gender roles for this question to begin to make sense.

The social constructivist arguments fail because they take no account of biology or nature and I think mask intolerance for example I am told women are emotionally skilled more so than me which is rubbish men simply express emotions differently through actions and it’s intolerance on women’s part to accept that there are differences . But the baby playing with toys that indicate the male preference for interest in things and the female preference with people can be replicated with all primates not just humans knocks out the social constructivist at a stroke . Though the need for two sexes isn’t an accident if nature could have got away with one it would have done , the need for diversity in genes ensures that two genders will remain and no the Y chromosome is not in decline that’s feminist fabricated lying . But much more fundamentally you and I are spoilt in living in a time when technology allows us to experiment beyond our gender roles and we both do that but our biology knows it won’t last , the division of labour of the past 200 years has given us unprecedented technology but it’s very fragile and won’t last , any number of natural calamities can send us back to basic living off the earth as we have done for hundreds of thousands of years , a hundred years in biology is not a blink of the eye . I see the attempt of homogenising genders as intolerance of differences . I do take some of the point in saying women have more gender role freedom than men that is currently the case but as previous replies have pointed out sexual preferences play a part and there are exceptions to the rule but women prefer masculine men and men prefer feminine women this has been aptly demonstrated by the pick up artist community in terms of what strategy works if you want to get laid ! The fact that a set formula does work speaks for itself , I as a less masculine man find that disappointing ! But there it is ! Since learning that I as a male have experimented and found it to be true that if I describe myself in my original training as a carpenter I get more female attention than I do in describing myself according to my 30 years as a male nurse sad but true !

Getting laid is the single strongest drive in humanity because fundamentally your biology exists to reproduce and it is generally stronger in men than women though society does let women off more when it comes to sex offending ! How can you not know this ? An experiment with chimps sums up the whole of human history and civilisation - the chimps are in an enclosure with a machine that dispenses chocolate when a token is put in . Within 20 minutes of being exposed to this situation the chimps who all have some tokens each then divide with the male chimps trading their tokens for sexual favours from the females and that is the story of humanity in a nutshell !! All endeavours by men ( and that is most endeavours in history including war ) are done to please women . As the feminist Camille Paglia says if it were left to women we would still be living in caves . Paglia brilliantly explains the differences between men and women but I digress . If your going to tell me that I must be driven by hormones then of course I am but so are you but men’s hormones drive them to act for being attractive to women , you as a 23 year old may not want children now but by 39 you probably will yes you have a conscious and yes what I am saying is deterministic but that’s our fundamental purpose . Males compete for females it’s that basic mitochondrial DNA clearly shows that only 38 % of males have ever reproduced where as more than 80% of females have so given the scarcity of resources shows that men have always sacrificed for women who have always been the relatively privileged sex though survival has always been hard ..

I have been thinking about this and I don't think society punishes feminity in men as such. If a man has shown strong masculine traits and is high status then there is far less concern about his 'eccentricities'. So I think men are punished for not having masculine traits rather than having feminine ones.

At least that is where I am at with my thinking.

This is stupid,. We evolved to complement each other.Each sex had adopted sexual strategies to please the other sex.Men don't express their femininity side because women are repulsed sexually by it, and men know that instinctively.

Also women that are not feminine are repulsive to men.The more feminists the more repulsive they are.Hetero men don't want to fuck other men and some women know that also instinctively.

Take it or leave it ,it is what it is.Sexual preferences are deep rooted in our DNA, to be changed simply by socializing people.

This was not even remotely controversial 20 years ago.

Now everybody asks sources at least 3 pier reviewed studies that proves hot water is really hot.
