The girl, known as M is proceedings as she cannot be named, first made the allegations about her relative to a counsellor

These "counsellors" have a lot to answer for.

in 2016, when she was 14. M told the counsellor that she realised that her grandfather’s behaviour was wrong only after attending sex education classes at school when she was in year eight. The counsellor reported the conversation to the police,

The "counsellor" kicks off the process which is set up to go in only one direction.

And so it starts. Snowball downhill...

Three months after the allegations were raised he faced charged of abusing the girl on several occasions when she was three or four, six or seven and eight or nine years old.

Why did they stop there? Must have run out of breath.

who wasn't there

all gave evidence in the trial. The man was convicted in February last year by a majority verdict of 11 to 1.

has now produced a 14-paragraph statement retracting the allegations against her relative.

... ruled that her original evidence at the trial in January last year at Snaresbrook crown court in London remained believable.

So they chose to believe her the first time when they weren't there, and they chose to disbelieve her the second time in court when they were there.

This downhill race to disaster all set into motion by the "councellor".

The undercurrent to this decision, is that thousands of men (mainly) are convicted of various sexual offences against females on the sole basis of evidence given by the accuser.

Such "evidence" has been shown by criminal researchers to be fantastically unreliable. So much so, that in some jurisdictions — such as Scotland — a prosecution can never proceed with only accuser evidence; corroborating evidence is required.

Such evidence is even more unreliable where the accuser is a child or juvenile, and subject to the pressures and interferences from adults.

Now if they were to reverse this decision, and accept that the girl was lying, that the cat will be out of the bag, and juries will more-and-more reject such evidence.

'Believable' is not good enough, it used to be 'beyond a reasonable doubt' was required for convictions.

If the alleged victim comes forth with a fucking essay retracting the statement, even going against her own mother, that should lend some weight to it.

But from the sounds of it there was no hard evidence, just a bunch of opinions and the girls charge, which was then retracted. You shouldn't even be able to convict with so much...nothing.
