If a woman seeks out 2 famous athletes and sleeps with them on the same night, the men are "guilty of vile misogyny." No word on whether the women are misandrists if a man sleeps with 2 women on the same night.

You knew it was coming: maybe the police shouldn't prosecute Asia Argento for statutory rape because other metoo survivors might not come forward with their stories.

Woman chloroformed a man at gunpoint, drove him to another town, chained him to a bed, and raped him for 3 days in 1977. Journalists felt "the case provided 'light relief' for the newspaper-reading public, from more serious stories about politicians."

Men's lives literally don't count. HEADLINE: "Nigerian soldiers battle Boko Haram, kill 15, rescue 49 women, children." 10 PARAGRAPH LATER: "Four men, 33 women and 16 children were rescued by the troops from the insurgents’ hideouts."

One NY college president was fired for refusing to fire a professor after 3 investigations cleared professor of sexual misconduct allegatoion. Another NY college president was hired despite a sexual assault conviction. Guess which president is a white male and which is a black female.

What a horse tripe article.

This is nothing more than feminists and women trying to escape responsibility for their choices and avoid risk.

How many men have had to pay a negative price in the past for failing to register? Now women (in theory) may be subject to that same set of punishments so OF COURSE they want to make it go away.

Women start having to pay alimony -> alimony starts getting reformed

Women start having to pay more for auto insurance -> becomes illegal to charge by gender

Women take on mountains of student debt getting useless degrees -> there is suddenly a looming debt crisis which must be addressed

Women start behaving sluttier -> we have to fight slutshaming and worship single moms

Women avoid icky high-stress full-time outdoor scary jobs that pay a lot -> pay gap, pay gap pay gap!

The finance crisis cripples the US economy -> the stimulus package must be re-written because it creates mostly sorely needed infrastructure jobs too icky for women to do

Women start trying to enter STEM and they fail -> we must remove "barriers"

I mean, some of these are valid and should already have been done.

Of course, it's only sad that we have to wait for a problem to affect women before we fix it.

Yeah, I agree.

Surprised you were able to reply after 2 whole years though.

"Men haven't been historically oppressed."

"Okay. Here's a burden that men have historically borne."

"Oppression!!!"

We didn't see that one coming, right?

"But progress isn’t adding women to what may be an obsolete draft registry system. Congress should fix the system first. "

IMO they're actually arguing foir the status quo, but they don't want people to connect the dots that they're being sexist. They're not arguing for an end to the draft. They're saying that congress shouldn't draft women until they fix the draft, which will be never.

If anything, they should force women to register and then fix the draft. By their own logic, you can register on-line now. There are no massive administrative changes needed. It can happen a lot quicker and probably cheaper than "fixing" the draft. My guess is if it does happen it will become increasingly easier to "fix" (ie abolish) the draft pnce women are eligible.

Oddly missing is any mention of the "backdoor draft" for our "all voluntary army" (ie stop loss in the Iraq and Afghanistan initiatives) I'm pretty sure they reported on 15 or so years ago. Those people, over overwhelmingly men, were still forced to serve after their agreed upon enlistment was up.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I'd rather they just end the draft all together and take voluntary recruits only, but of course feminists are going to complain now that they are at risk of losing their lives, even though men have had to deal with this potential threat to livelihood for decades.

Historically they are not even, or don't present as, "worried about their lives". No, historically, the primary criticism of men failing to commit to the war effort is the fear thier mothers, sisters and daughters will be raped by the enemy....not manipulative at all right?
