I used to objectify women. Fellow straight men

Oh fuck off, is this article worth reading at all or is it just male feminist drivel? Yes it is male feminist drivel and for fuck's sake it's not even satire :(

I made it a little farther

This past weekend my wife and I attended a Golden Globe Awards party. On a couch in the corner was a guy who had to be in his late-60s-early 70s with a twenty-something-year-old woman on each arm.

Yeah, i attended the Golden Globes, so what? I'm not bragging, it's just part of the story

Was he a lucky son of a bitch or a dirty old man?

was he a grandfather?

Do I care?

lol no not much

Not at all, unless he manipulated them with promises of getting them auditions or some such. Likely the case — very likely the case — but were they willing?

How on gods earth might they not have been willing? Were they on leashes?

Needs to be asked.

Jumping Christ

It's the sort of thing that people would satirise about male feminists but this moron actually wrote it. I remember Shoe0nHead specifically using the phrase 'fellow white men' to mock them, you've got way more patience than me.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points3 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Actually, once you get past the inital 'dear god please do not come after me, I'm one of the good guys' virtue signaling, and before the last few paragraphs where he signals a bit more, you can find a full acknowledgement that these women are , um, well, lets just say 'not being victimized' and 'just in it for the money' re the allegations.

[–]Lethn 2 points3 points4 points 7 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Yes, towards the end he almost acknowledges what these women are doing but then immediately goes "Are they really consenting to it?" as if these are women being trafficked and abused and they can only get work if they have sex with men older than them to move up the ladder.

With Hollywood being as corrupt as it is, I certainly don't doubt this to be the case but what always gets me is feminists especially these spineless and backstabbing actresses then proceed to blame me and all other men in existence for what's going on.

It is a problem that is almost exclusive to Hollywood and rich white middle/upper class societies that feminists have extrapolated to an entire gender.

well Hollywood is like that, it's full of world class actors. People who can lie very convincingly, not just verbal lies about facts, but emotive lies about experiences. These are people who could bring a tear to your eyes describing the time they ran out of peanut butter. These people have a native talent for whipping up crowds of followers, even without their megaphones.

Completely beside the point, saying he went to a GGA party is even less impressive than a humblebrag. People gather in bars or friends houses to eat and watch the show and it's called a party. Like a Super Bowl party.

Dude didn't go to the GGA, he watched them with a bunch of other schmoes.

Just some feminist turd man doing his turd man thing; attacking all men as assholes etc.

Initially of course --in the early days of feminist sexual harassment theory-- the women pretending to be victims of sexual harassment with #MeToo would have been called the sexual harassers not the victims. That's because they are bribing the male bosses to corruptly give them a job that other women were trying to compete for. The women who failed to get the job are the real victims -- according to the original feminist theory. The boss (who takes the bribes) and the woman who sleeps with him are the harassers.

It really makes zero sense now. If a woman told Harvy Weinstein "I wont sleep with you but how about I pay you cash or hire a hooker for you, and you give me the role?" Is she still supposed to be a victim?

I don’t see this as any type of feminist propaganda... the casting couch is a symbol of the moral degradation of our society. Sex is treated as a transaction and when someone doesn’t follow through with their perceived obligation, the other party feels wronged, even though there was mutual consent. Don’t get me wrong, when I was single I “smashed and dashed” everything in sight. However, I never pressed the issue if they said no; it doesn’t take a genius to understand that this is how it should be. We shouldn’t use our positions, money, ...etc as leverage to pressure women into sex. It’s not just immoral, it’s harassment. I can tell you right now, if someone was sexually harassing my wife at her work, I would be up there the next day to beat the brakes off of whoever it may be.

Sex has always been transactional.

the casting couch is a symbol of the moral degradation of our society. Is the casting couch any better or worse than any other form of corruption?

Sex is treated as a transaction and when someone doesn’t follow through with their perceived obligation, the other party feels wronged, even though there was mutual consent.

Sex has ALWAYS been a transaction, like any other behaviour if the participants didn't get something out of it, they wouldn't participate. Like anything else.

We shouldn’t use our positions, money, ...etc as leverage to pressure women into sex. It’s not just immoral, it’s harassment.

Should Women use sex as a way to pressure Men into things? If not how could a Woman ever turn down a Man for sex? if she does isn't she pressuring him into changing himself into pleasing her?

[–]Church556 -1 points0 points1 point 7 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I never said that a double standard should be accepted by any means. How do you not understand that?

[–]VantagePoint2018 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

I haven't said you did. I said.

Should Women use sex as a way to pressure Men into things? If not how could a Woman ever turn down a Man for sex? if she does isn't she pressuring him into changing himself into pleasing her?

Meaning, I am criticizing your position that expecting others to reciprocate favours is oppressive because it would make having any dating requirements whatsoever basically impossible. If you want to ban dating then fair enough, but you would need to ban dating (and ever other form of relationship to get your wish of "We shouldn’t use our positions, money, ...etc as leverage to pressure women into sex. It’s not just immoral, it’s harassment.").

You, along with everyone else, needs to start taking things at face value... don’t try to find meaning where there is none or twist words until you see what you want. Don’t expand upon something and say “See, this is the BIG picture!”... you draw a false equivalency and it’s intellectually dishonest.

It is face value. I have read your post out and commented on it.

don’t try to find meaning where there is none or twist words until you see what you want.

I have just extrapolated what you wrote and pointed out the flaws with it. I don't see how that is "twisting words". I have even quoted you directly as to not misrepresent you.

Don’t expand upon something and say “See, this is the BIG picture!”... you draw a false equivalency and it’s intellectually dishonest.

It's a false equivalency to what? Pointing out where you have gone wrong by pointing out the absurdity of your position isn't intellectually dishonest, it's what you should have done before writing it to make sure it was coherent.

I’ve been downvoted several times for simply speaking truth... not saying anything negative. How are you “men” this fragile? If you call yourselves men, I’m ashamed to associate myself with such low-T pussies. I thought I found commonality with a group of guys through our disdain of the new, hateful feminist movement. I thought this was a place to talk about things we face every day that women simply don’t understand and is now considered taboo. However, I’ve come to see this as a group of guys who seem just as bad as the feminists... crying and getting triggered at the mere thought of a differing opinion. I honestly wouldn’t trust one of you “men” to work beside of me... limp-wristed, low-T cucks need to put on dresses and makeup and make a switch to the other side of the aisle anyways. You don’t have men’s issues, you’re a bunch of pussies.

[–]KaitonREEEEE 0 points1 point2 points 7 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Disproving and speaking out against a obviously wrong and retarded opinion is now "crying and getting triggered"? Calling out a man who stereotypes all men as rapists in order to get good boy points in a pathetic attempt at obtaining pussy is now being similar to a feminist? Common sense is low T? Is sitting down with our tails between our legs and doing nothing while being pelted with insults is high T? Man you are stupid.
