The parking spaces should be made for anyone with mobility issues. If someone has mobility issues, then they get a permit such as from a doctor. This includes pregnant women.
I am against pregnant spots because they are discriminatory. They are created based on gender and not based on need as we already have a system for people that have mobility issues (handicap) which can be modified for late-stage pregnant women.
But parking spots are gender neutral. Lots of people have mobility needs. Why should the spots be designated only for specific females with mobility needs? It has nothing to do with being pregnant or not pregnant. All pregnancy is a qualifier for someone with mobility needs. That is the justification for the spots.
And, the thing is, we do not need to use "pregnancy" as a signal for mobility needs. We can just directly measure mobility needs, regardless of gender, and distribute those spots accordingly. It has nothing to do with gender.
