Correct, contrast that with stories the MSM covers talking about restricting government programs that mostly impact women. Much of the MSM was against workfare. Any discussions about moving people from welfare to work gets trashed. They want to tie a professional athletes behavior to their job. Commit DV or even just assault, you're suspended. No conviction necessary. Pass a drug test to get section 8 or SNAP. That's a horrible idea.

I've read a bit on this and the article might be a bit misleading. There are 2 kinds of disability, SSI and SSDI. Anyone who is disabled can receive SSI and that's a fixed amount. You can only get SSDI if you worked "substantially". You had to make something like $1000 a month for 5 years prior. You essentially get you're social security benefits early so the amount you can get could be way above SSI. It's my understanding that THIS is what's supposedly driving the increase in disability claims by men. It's THIS that they want to reform.

Most women, especially younger ones who take time off from work to raise families, can't meet the 5 year income requirement. That sets up an interesting contrast. They want to deny those who worked and paid into social security, the benefits and can't work anymore (in their current field), but extend them to people who never worked.

I'm not taking a stand on the merits of the programs at this time. I just want to point out that when a government program mainly benefits men, the discussion is how can we reform it to get men off (wouldn't education be an obvious answer, but they don't want them in college either), but when the program benefits mostly women, the conversation becomes how can we keep it or expand it.
