We as men have to fight against a precedent. Multiple precedents, in fact. Men of the past (and present) have taken advantage of younger girls, for quite a bit of time in history. That’s why the statutory rape laws exist. Women got their “rights” back in the 60’s, and not much was heard or reported about women being “predatory” toward young boys. That being said, men have to fight against the stigmas and biases placed against us from our past.

Idk what exactly the goal would be in this context for men. Eliminate statutory rape laws? I don’t think the government would allow that because it would open the door for men (and women) who do prey upon younger, inexperienced/naive people.

Some things are kept for the good of others (in this case, children), even if a bias remains within it for some part of the population (men), and I’m uncertain how much can actually be done about that bias because no matter how many men are obeying the law, the ones that do decide to break it will always be portrayed to represent the entire group as a whole.

This is where you are mistaken. There is no way to cover your ass. Let me repeat that for you: There is no way to protect yourself. None. Zero. Zilch. Nada.

Fake ID? Fake social security card? Parents lie? Friends lie? Bar lies? Cops lie? Doesn't matter.

You, as an adult trying to do the morally right thing, have no way to protect yourself against someone that is underage and lying about it and looks of a reasonable age to be an adult.

There is no way to cover your ass with the way the law is written. Minors have an inherent protection that can't be overwritten by anything else.

Sadly, even the most moral of persons can find themselves on the wrong side of the fence and not know it until they are in trouble. Just the way it is.

You.Are.Missing.The.Point. In no way are you protected. Even if you tell the Judge, "but, Your Honor, I saw her birth certificate! The bar saw her birth certificate! The bar said she's a regular and her parents validated her birth certificate!" -- and even if you can be shown on video checking her long form birth certificate, drivers license, and social security card -- you will still be convicted.

That's the thing we're trying to communicate. You can be convicted and labelled a bad person even though you were trying to avoid that situation in the first place.

I'm not sure what the answer is but perhaps a Federal Validation mobile app that can verify a persons information (e.g. passport) via a scan, but if it's her sister and they look VERY alike, it's still not going to be enough to protect you. But that'll never happen because too many will fight the invasion of privacy.

The only thing I can imagine that might help is also holding the bar, and anyone/everyone else, accountable and having them lose their licenses to be open for business. The parents also need to be investigated by CPS for allowing the behavior.

The punishment, in such instances, needs to be serious for many parties. Assuming it can be proven she lied. As in you can produce a video of her saying she's 18, you looking at her ID, etc.

If they were related to the incident, they need to be subsequently punished.

In doing say, at least you can take down a lot of other irresponsible people as well because this problem isn't just a two person problem.
