My guess is by the time he realize he was getting choked, and it was a woman, and trying to figure out what he could do without hurting her, he was out.
Once when playing around I wrapped both my hands around a friends neck and started to squeeze. He looked at me like "Is that all you got?" 3 seconds later his lights went out and he dropped to the floor unconscious. If someone starts squeezing your neck you need to fight back quickly or else you are going to sleep.
