And just think, it only cost him $50k bail, who know how much in legal bills, lost advertising revenue, hit to his reputation. All of which he will never get back

He is just lucky that he had big enough pockets or he would have been prosecuted.

Maybe there should be a timer on the reporting of these things. Say it's not reported within 3 months then the claim won't be treated seriously. Maybe that'll encourage people to speak up at the time instead.
