Body shaming is never okay if you're really seeking an even playing field for both sexes. Yes, it happens on both sides, but the difference is that in the name of equality it's considered a borderline hate crime to body shame a woman but the opposite gets a free pass.

Body shaming is a part of free speech, we live in a free country. Its up to each individual to learn how to handle the other people's words without devolving into an incoherent mess.

And your hyperbole that it is a 'borderline hate crime' is absolutely ridiculous. Show me examples of men being put in prison for calling a woman fat. Provide evidence that there are actual legal precedents for body shaming being treated as a hate crime, or shut up. That kind of exaggeration is exactly the kind of nonsense you'd expect from a perpetual victim.

If this meme were the other way round, it'd probably end up trending on Twitter or something.

Ok and who cares? You seem to think having a lot of people get mad at you for something you said is tantamount to corporal punishment or something. The identical thing is happening right here. What the hell does this have to do with a stupid meme shared on facebook? Your need to link some random woman's opinion on facebook to governments and corporations is ridiculous. So every time a man shares a sexist meme on facebook, women are justified in pointing to it as an example of the patriarchy? Because that is exactly what you are doing right now. I take it seriously because this sub used to be about the intelligent discussions about the disadvantages men face in society, now its just a never ending stream of shitposts and men posting examples of women being mean so they can unleash their anger towards them in the comments.

How will that change the opinions of others? I come here to challenge the entrenched groupthink that takes place here and force people to come up with justifications for their way of thinking, hopefully giving them a moment of reflection where they can reform or update their perspectives. I do this because I'd like there to be a legitimate men's rights movement that isn't synonymous with hatred of women. And posts like this just make it seem like this is a community of angry men who want to bash on women. I believe we can be better than that.

(Also I have a lot of free time and these discussions entertain me.)

If you believed your principle of "you cannot battle sexism with more sexism" than some guy upset about some penis size meme has got to be so low on your priorities list it's astonishing if you are even bothering to address it. The post is sitting at about 120-130 points on a sub of 180,000+. You're blowing this up as if it's some huge thing. Meanwhile your principle of "you cannot battle sexism with more sexism" is being violated on the mass scale in way more important ways in society today.

So the fact you even care enough to whine about it in a post makes me question your authenticity at worst, if not just purely your priorities at best.

Imagining a double standard is not the same as demonstrating a double standard in reality. You are simply constructing a narrative in your mind and creating a fantasy where you are victimized. There are sexist memes towards men on the internet, just as there are sexist memes towards women on the internet. The whole "go make me a sandwich" or "women belong in the kitchen" meme has been around for at least a decade. People get outraged and then forget about it a week later.

The cognitive dissonance to which I refer is the amount of people here talking about disliking the perpetual victim mindset that modern feminists espouse, while engaging in behavior which perpetually places them in the mindset of a victim. I wish we would do away with that and see things plainly.

What does winning and losing look like in this particular scenario, though? Who are your enemies and what are you battling for? Because if its hearts and minds of people, getting down in the dirt doesn't get you into a winning position. It just makes everyone involved look like children slinging mud at each other.

One would be far more successful taking the stance that "body shaming against both men and women is harmful and we need to work on addressing the way we view each other, seeing each other first and foremost as individuals deserving of respect" rather than "oh women hate guys with small dicks? well we men hate women with small boobies... take that!" The former is likely to get you the ear of people sympathetic to the cause, the other is going to make people want nothing to do with either of you.

This is so dumb. They're making commentary on existing cultural and societal standards. I ignore or downvote things "I do not find funny". I don't post about them telling everyone that they shouldn't be doing them. I don't try and stop humour I don't find to my liking.

The feminists seem to be pretty fine with taking culture victory after victory without the "hearts and minds of people" so clearly that's not a necessity for winning.
