He got stabbed in the head and defended her so it was viable in court.

Let's flip the scripts and run the scenario through our heads.

"She got stabbed in the head by her male partner and she defended him. Her testimony was ignored and she was deemed too mentally unwell to testify. Man got prison time."

Straw man argument aside, let's really just look objectively at this. The basic premise to this is that a woman stabbed a man in the fucking head and her defense of the actions was her mental health. This is how women like Casey Anthony walk free, being white women. Seriously the most privileged people in society. I guarantee a white man couldn't just prop up a defense like that and avoid all charges. He'd at least get domestic violence charges, but by no means would he be free from punishment and instead face compassion for stabbing his partner in her head.

Gynocentrism makes quite a circus.

I mean, I believe that she was in a psychotic state. This isn't how someone in their right mind would plan a murder. And if she never had a history of psychosis before, and there was a clear progression of symptoms leading up to this, then maybe it makes sense that she be released under the orders that she have to check in with a mental health professional for the rest of her life to prevent this from happening again.

But then, that's providing her with a world of good faith that most other people don't get. I would agree her gender is a big part of that; I imagine her race did too.

Which is to say, I don't necessarily begrudge this ruling assuming the right things were set up to make sure she's no further harm. What I begrudge is everyone who didn't get this consideration.
