First, thanks for caring. It's good you can see a lot of that.

Honestly, I started thinking about how to answer your question, and it was a bit hard: there's so much to say, I don't even know where to start. The zeitgeist of our time is the dance between men and women. But it's strange because almost all of the discussion revolving around it is nothing more than thought terminating cliches, falsehoods, propaganda, etc.

I think the place to start, though, is this: society doesn't care about men. It just doesn't. For whatever talk there may be about women being perceived as sex objects (which has validity) there is no corresponding talk about how men are work horses, resource objects if you will. If 99 men die in a fire and 1 woman does, the story is about her. It's about her even if it's 99 women and 1 man cause in that case he won't even be mentioned. The headline would be something like "100 people, including 99 women, die tragically". And while it's easy to dismiss as 'just a headline', it truly encapsulates the larger mentality and it trickles down throughout the entirety of the modern dance.

The very word 'woman' itself has been imbued with something beyond its denotative meaning of 'female human' and into some higher, ethereal realm. Women are amazing, incredible, goddesses, beautiful, etc etc. And, increasingly, women really buy this. Men just suck. Sometimes it's over, sometimes its subtle. The subtle stuff is, I think, the worst. Its the kindling that gets the fire going that produces the bien-pensants touting the new buzzwords like 'toxic masculinity', imagining themselves to be intellectually elevated. You'll read an article and it will say something like "Scientists Shocked [Bad Thing] is done mostly by women"

Why is it so shocking that something bad is done more by women, unless there's an underlying, insidious notion that male humans simply have something dirty, basic, ugly and drone-ish in them?

Hitting a woman is regarded as pretty much evil, regardless of the situation. By contrast, if our media portrayals are any indicator, a woman kicking a man in the testicles is empowering and how she demonstrates that she's powerful. I thought in the era of #metoo that sexual assault was wrong? Nope! Only if its a woman. For them, there's no inconsistency however, as they don't even really acknowledge that women can and do hurt men.

We are still expected to deliver like it's the Time of Don Draper. But we're also expected to somehow be all these other incompatible things too. We have to listen to talking head 'experts' (usually women) lecture us about how to be men, and how we're doing it all wrong. We have to listen to the accolades of Emma Watson's "Heforshe" and then also watch as she lives a life and says things that directly contradict her message. Example: She'll say in her speech something along the lines of how men shouldn't have to be "bold and aggressive" -but then she herself has publicly stated that she likes how much more bold and aggressive American men are compared to British men that would ask her out.

Toxic Masculinity? You mean all the things women love in men? Somehow, you never see the words "Toxic Femininity" do you, which undermines their cop-out answer of "no, its not actually masculinity we're attaking, just the harmful manifestations of it". OOOOH silly me....so what about the toxic manifestations on the other side? Crickets.

I'm starting to rant here. Or probably already started. But the short of it is that it seems we're following a routine where no matter what, she is just Good, and no matter what, he is just Bad.

Men are not inclined to complain or voice concerns or group together in the same way that others are. But they're really unhappy right now. They're being wronged, forgotten, short changed....and also being told that the opposite is true, and that they suck. They're being stripped of humanity, and its starting to show in our society on a macro level.

Edit: I checked out "sadhukkan_p" 's suggested blog. The tagline nails it: "On behalf of the ignored gender". That is exactly it.

Somewhere the other day someone cross posted something here from like 2x or something about cat calling. And a comment by a woman there had been made where she had a moment of introspection and said, in effect, "wow, I can actually suddenly see how if you never ever get complimented, you would think yelling out at a woman is flattering". Can't you, as a woman? Some men actually remember compliments like "you have nice eyes" for years. Honestly, to many men, hearing women complain about attention is like listening to rich people bitch about taxes. Sure, it sucks, but if you for a second operate in the vein of "hey I have some downsides, you have some downsides, its all a wash, right" you would be severely mistaken. Being rich is way better than being poor, regardless of the admitted downsides. Being wanted is way better too.

The following doesn't apply to all women, but is generally true:

I feel as though women have been inculturated to be, in general and by default, entitled and selfish. Women have asked to be freed from their traditional gender roles, without generally allowing men to be free of theirs. Women generally expect what they always have from men, but without giving the recognition and appreciation that came along with it, and without necessarily being as selfless and giving of themselves in return.

Being a man today means the same thing as being a man 100 or even 1000 years ago. It means being stoic and self-sacrificing, being defined by how useful you can be, and being judged in morality by the degree to which you meet the expectation of women, particularly your wife. You see this in "women and children first," in the male workplace fatality rate, in the way that men introduce themselves as, "I'm Joe, and I <job>," you see this in "happy wife, happy life," and every father-mocking television ad, you see this in every men's organization being made gender-neutral while women's organizations are added daily.

It is wonderful to see a woman that cares! The simplest and easiest thing to do is subscribe to this subreddit and look at the posts. With each post you see, ask yourself, "If I was a man, how would this make me feel?" If you can't understand it, read the comments. This is actual advice, not me being snarky or sarcastic.

As for a personal example, look at media, especially media geared towards children. There is a running trope that all male characters, specifically adult males, are either villainous, idiotic, or absent. I'm not saying all shows commit this crime, but I have seen many that do, and every time I watch a show that perpetuates this trope, it just makes my heart break for male children growing up seeing that shit. I'm fairly young myself (mid-twenties) and I have rewatched or remembered certain shows from my childhood and realized I grew up with the same shit. It makes me angry, because I look back and realize that that is part of the reason why for most of my life I felt like being male was wrong.

I work in one of the bluest organizations in one of the bluest parts of one of the bluest states in the country. Most people where I work are actually quite decent, but there are a couple straight up SJWs who I mostly try to humor or avoid. The only reason they don’t actually know what anyone thinks of them is because they never stop spouting their rhetoric long enough to listen.

I am married, but at work and in public I am adopting more and more of a MGTOW posture. I am polite, civil and cordial with women, and if I feel they don’t pose a serious threat, I may be truly friendly with them. I prefer to spend time with other men more and more, though. It’s just safer, and quite honestly, easier. It is surprisingly easy to make a woman feel threatened.
