Just ask questions. Are we empowering women collectively? What is the purpose of that? Who benefits? who is pushing the agenda? Are we empowering women individually? Why is microfinance any different for individual men and women? Just lead them to the heart of their own ideology and let them expose it themselves?

I don't think it needs to mention men. Not every sentence, comment or question has to be gender neutral or all inclusive. This particular question could have been gender specific. It's not about getting everything to be inclusive, it's about being able to be gender inclusive or have a similar question about men without being attacked.

There is a finite cash supply in the world, so more money funneled to women would by default mean less funding for male owned businesses. Given that men are the breadwinners of 90%+ of all households, that would mean women who choose to be homemakers would in fact get less household income (the husband cannot fund his business venture). If the woman isn't a homemaker, she can then start a business while the man cannot, and then she can be the breadwinner. After not working for a decade, the man can then divorce her for 50% of everything she owns and take custody of the kids.

This is why it is a good tool for men when empowering women.
