I created a group to support Male Rape Survivors. No women allowed because women have plenty for support.

Look at this garbage. Hey, Genius, there's a problem in society, it's called False Rape Accusation. I wish that I could switch the genders of feminists for a month, so that they could experience what men have to face.

It really makes me mad that men aren't trusted around kids despite that women are more likely to abuse them and get away with it.

They're now comparing Western Women to Muslim Women - and implying that Western Women have it worse. It's stupid. Sorry it isn't Archived, I couldn't do it.

Of course they do, they claim everything is worse for women because it gives them an advantage and allows them to discriminate while claiming it's not discrimination. Feminism is cancer.

Yep. It's quite stupid!

While there were fewer than 8,000 women in US jails in 1970, that number soared to 110,000 in 2014, a fourteenfold increase, compared with a fourfold increase for men during the same time, according to the Vera Institute’s report. On a per capita basis, the incarceration rate for women in jail (per 100,000 people) grew 8.25 times during that time period, more than three times the rate for men. (The number of men in jail grew 2.5 times.) Since 2010, the number of women in jails has been increasing at an average rate of 3.4 percent per year. Other correctional populations such as women in prison, and men in jails and prisons, showed a decline, according to the Bureau of Justice Statistics.

A fine example of how to lie with statistics, note that they never tell the number of men in prison, only the percentage change, they only compare the percentage change. The also lie like this with regard to with poverty, while they say that a larger percentage of blacks are poor, and these people need assistance, what they don't tell you is that there are more poor whites in america that the total number of black people, but they don't need help because white privilege or some such.

detention facilities primarily for people who are awaiting sentencing after being arrested or who are serving short sentences of a year or less—so few address women’s needs, the report said

This is not a resort or therapy, they are there only because the police have charged them with a felony. And no facilities even try to meet men's needs and that's not seen as a problem.

Like many people behind bars, these women are disproportionately people of color and poor, and many have a history of drug abuse. Nearly 80 percent are mothers.

Being a father never made any difference, why should being a mother? Some of these mothers are on trial for killing their kids or husband, so of course they are still fit for custody. /s

Counties increasingly impose fees and fines on people in jail, and keep them incarcerated when they don’t pay— policies that affect women more because they are more likely to be poor

I'm pretty sure it is not correct that women are more likely to be poor. But the fees are wrong, and both men and women face these. At worst non-payment of fees is a civil offense, and not a cause to keep someone in jail.

These experiences have a lasting impact on these women as well as their families and communities, the report says. Many come home “far worse off than when they entered the jailhouse door.”

Whereas men come back better off?

This article does contain some facts, but they are not presented honestly and it's full of dishonestly presented stats and false comparisons.

But the author seems to be a Swedish woman, so what more can be said?

Amen, I hate the fees, and if you're a Swedish Woman, WHY ARE YOU HERE?!

I love Social Democracy, and my favorite nation who practices it is Norway.

Womens Prisons vs Mens prisons?!

I don't care who jail is worse for. Don't commit the crime if you can't do the time. Simple as that.

Jail is not supposed to be a pleasant experience. It's supposed to suck... Because you suck and have done something to earn your place there.

I believe in rehabilitation. Look at how well it works for Norway. We just have to reform the rest of the system first.

[–]Mythandros 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

I do too, to a degree. I believe that not everyone can be rehabilitated, for various reasons.

[–]BernieSandersgirl101[S] 1 point2 points3 points 8 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

We still have to try.

[–]Mythandros 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Maybe. In some cases rehabilitation isn't warranted.

Let's take a mass murderer for example. The harm they have caused society outweighs the benefits they could ever give back to society, or at the very least outweighs the benefits they are likely to give back to society.

In cases like that it's just more expedient and less of a waste of resources just to execute them and be done with it.

Obviously, this doesn't apply to every crime, but the ones that are especially bad. In this case, rehab is a lost cause and shouldn't even be attempted.

[–]BernieSandersgirl101[S] 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I agree. But a humane execution nonetheless.

[–]Mythandros 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Of course.

[–]Alphonetic 0 points1 point2 points 8 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Very dishonest article with some degree of truth. The real issue is the criminal justice system and the prison system in general, which is very corrupt and doesn’t properly punish and rehabilitate people. There’s still stupid stuff in regards to drug related crime, and placing someone who merely pirated something in a hostile environment like that with murderers who take others’ lives with little regard is just irresponsible. If we can’t even take care of the lowest of the low of our citizens, what good are we as a society? Regardless, the criminal justice system is biased against men more so than women. If they’re treating women this poorly, it only says more about male prisons imo.

Amen. I absolutely agree.
