It's important to note that the victim didn't report the crime and how that affects the way society views DV cases. Could this be because feminists have downplayed instances like this as nit serious DV?

The police officers don't seem to think that the problem was the actual DV, but was that they couldn't immediately determine that the DV wasn't something "more serious" and so they were forced to investigate something they really didn't want to do.
