/u/darthcerebrox shared a link about mothers killing more children than fathers. It contained the "Child maltreatment report from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services" from 2006 which stated that 60% of children dying through maltreatment are boys. I checked the other years and it holds true for every year and thought that deserved it's own post.

On page 44 (from the 2016 report) you can see that the overall reported cases of child maltreatment are higher for girls than for boys, but on page 55 you see that 50% more boys die from it than girls.

Everything I know about gender dynamics suggests that maltreatment of boys is underreported in comparison to maltreatment of girls and that these numbers are not a picture of reality except the death rates. Because you can't not report a children's death, but people are less likely to see and report abuse of a boy which doesn't result in death.
