Because it looks good. Swedish politics is a lot, and I mean a lot, of saving face and following the stream. This is something has for some time really made a lot of the parties gravitate towards the same answers on some issues because it's the "now" thing to do and because they want to side with a portion that will net them votes.

It was something that became very apparent with the Swedish democrats (a pretty right wing party with some neonazi roots) took a stance on something and parties would go slightly against themselves just to not have the same stance on a question as them.

In the same vein, they know that feminist topics and equality is a hot debate. Not only with the current climate but also including our Feminist party that has a presence in city councils and even in the european parlament.

They know the law will look good, and in actuality not change much.
