I admit it: I'm having trouble swallowing her rhetoric when she herself admits she got into the sciences (her degrees) and then backed out to become a teacher (a field in which there is the opposite of the imbalance she's talking about). If she hadn't "backed out" herself... but then I do think a lot of her rhetoric and decisions may have come from feeling unwelcome when she did get into the sciences.

God knows she may have an amazing effect on her students and be a highly capable teacher- I truly have no idea- but I question her objectivity and her being in a position to answer this question. Yes, here I would accept a gender studies specialist or a sociologist, doctor or no.

If this is a research specialty of hers as a doctor, I'll happily eat my words.

Edit: watched this a second time and realized that there was almost no commentary on the topic at hand- the comment made by the nobel prize winner- and everything centered around a presumed (no stats given by either commentator) imbalance of the sexes within the sciences. Missed opportunity too in my opinion: there are many, many women in the medical field in India, and not just as support nurses either. There are reasons for this and how that doesn't come up in squabbles like this is beyond me.
