I posted here a month ago to get thoughts about a situation with a girl (M) I was interested in and had gone on two weird dates with. In college.

I ended up deciding that she was just enjoying and leading on the attention - so I dropped making future plans. We'd still bump into each other several times a week in the library though.

A little over a week ago I met a girl (O) through some mutual friends. I'd seen her a few times before and we hardly spoke but later that evening adds me on social media.

Messages me and is all light conversation-y. I see that she has some mutual friends with the previous girl, M - but they aren't friends themselves. O also seems to be part of a different crowd/social clubs.

Next day O invites me out of the library for a smoke. IoIs all over the place. 2 or 3 smoke breaks later over the course of a week, with a similar vibe, and all initiated by her, I shoot her a message asking her out for a drink that evening.

She replies that I 'seem to have a particular type'. Naturally, after my wtf moment, I realise what she's saying. These two girls, O&M have similar ethnic backgrounds, and are in the same course. Thinking back to it, it's insane not to have seen that as a massive danger sign, but the lack of social media connection and never seeing both A&O in pictures / person together made me ignore it.

After a few back and forths not breaking frame and basically saying "I guess I do - and I don't like wasting time', I get simultaneously messaged some stupid line by O,M, and a random girl who I'd chatted to once (in the same friendly and lightly teasing way as I do with most girls). I guess she thought I had been flirting with her too.

So now I've been trying to comprehend what kind of fucked up plan / situation I've ended up in. I don't want to demand an explanation because that's just falling further into their frame. I'm thinking stonewall hard next on the whole thing - worried that might project being bitter though.

What the fuck is the optimal play here?
