Why do they conflate average salary with unequal pay?

The waitress literally said that "women get paid less for the same work".

I dont get it. What the fuck are they achieving by this? It changes nothing.

You can order normal coffee or, if you're an anti-globalist (or whatever), pay a bit more and order fair-trade coffee. That's called targeting (or price discrimination but let's not go into details) and businesses are free to target their services to whomever they want to (if it's legal, that is). Stupid customers aren't illegal and neither are businesses taking advantage of them.
