Although it is a different country. Look up Robert Latimer here in Canada and see the difference. There are also a couple of cases around the same time as Robert Latimer in which the mothers got little to no jail time. In fact one of the mothers (I believe her name was Danielle Blais) got a job after being convicted as a spokeperson for a disability organization who (get this) wrote an amicus brief to get Robert Latimer more time in jail. Think about how fucked up that is. They say Robert Latimer should get way more time in jail (he did 12 years) but they hire someone who did the same thing (actually objectively worse) as a spokesperson.

Liltz received a four year prison sentence for this crime, which was suspended about three months later while it was appealed. The reason given by officials is apparently because her health was failing while in prison. In May of this year the appeal was rejected. The most recent status I can find is that her attorneys are deliberating on how to proceed, and she is still free on bond.

Honestly this entire affair is nauseating. Her reasons for murdering a daughter she supposedly loved are fucked up beyond reason. "I was scared what might happen to her after I died!" It takes an incredibly self-absorbed idiot to actually buy into that logic.

Even worse, I think, is the way people were trying to sympathize with her. This person is a monster who has little to no ability to empathize with other human beings. She absolutely deserves jail time for this. She murdered a human being who was virtually incapable of defending herself or even giving any sort of consent to euthanasia. Tolerating this and trying to give it moral justification only lessens the severity of the crime and disrespects the victim. I have no sympathy for this criminal.
