Maybe in your mind. I've never even had that thought nor considered it a problem. I don't think I've ever heard a single girl think of it that way either, in like 15yrs. If they say no, so what? Regardless of the reason, they said no. If they say yes, great! All I'm admitting is that "hey, I like you, let's do something. You in?" It's pretty much the same underlying message wherever I do it.

Social media? I don't play that game unless it's for business. I couldn't care less about it. Not to mention that's only seeing the negative side if I were to care. The proof you get from repeat success is much more valuable. You'll also find this pretty much never happens. It's not worth anyone's time to do, unless their time is worthless, in which case nobody of note or effect will listen to them anyway. Actually people who take risks are often praised, it's a good look when you can reach for what you want and not walk away butthurt.

There's no need to complicate things. Out there in the world there are a number of attractive females. Many of them are satisfied in committed relationships. Some are lesbians. The remainder of them are either uncommitted or they are looking for an upgrade. These women are open to being seduced by men. Are they open to being seduced by you? It's your job to find out!

By simple math, we can determine that with enough cold approaches, you absolutely will get laid. This of course assumes that you are not hideously ugly, deformed etc. The number of approaches required to get laid is inversely proportional to your SMV. If you're Cristiano Ronaldo, you probably don't even have to approach. If you're a basic dude, it might take 20 approaches to score 1 lay.

What is your goal? Is your goal to not get rejected? Then don't talk to anybody. Easy. But not getting rejected is nothing to be proud of.

Is your goal to get laid? Then the more girls you talk to, the higher your chances of it happening.

Is your goal to get laid AND not get rejected? These goals are incongruous. If you try to accomplish both, you'll take half-measures like trying to find little excuses to talk to a girl and getting her to become friends with you first. That is the path to Blue Pill-dom.
