Not the reason to have kids.

It might seem like being childless in your late 30s is all cocktails and overseas trips, but there are lots of ways you’re excluded from conventional society. By that I mean, at my age, a great percentage of my friends and family are raising children: the birthday parties, the advertising aimed squarely at parents, even the family tax benefits.

Again, not the reason to have kids.

That said, I’m in a better place financially and professionally than my friends with children — they’ve been really penalised for having them. As a woman, you can’t win with children, you can’t win without them.

No, they haven't been penalised, having kids grants you plenty of financial benefits, none of which you should be entitled to, as choosing to have and raise kids is YOUR responsibility, not anyone else's or the state's.

Yet the state DOES help, and still these people complain they aren't given enough.

My partner and I pay taxes, and we don't have children, yet we pay for YOU to have them, raise them, educate them, keep them healthy.

you ungrateful asshole.

I have seen this or variations of it for as long as I remember and it is complete bullshit. I am not saying that raising kids is easy but if you have less than 3 kids, if you don't have time to pee, you are very poor at time management. I had the pleasure a few years ago of looking after two of my nieces for about a month. They were 4 and 6 and while I was busy, I sure wasn't that busy. It just takes some organization.

I think Bill Burr said it best "If you can do your job in your bathrobe it isn't the toughest job in the world".

Maybe it's because I work with women but I never actually thought about the difference between stay at home moms and working moms. The only time it creeps into my mind is when I hear about the stay at home/nonworking women with their youngest being in their 20's.
