I once argued with a group of feminists who were trying to defend Andrea Yates and say that SHE was the victim, rather than the five children she drowned one by one in a bathtub. The mental gymnastics made me embarrassed to be female.

From the progressive perspective, this woman is not at fault !

It's the gasoline's and matches' fault. They are just too flammable. We need additional matches control legislation to prevent these dangerous items from falling into the hands of normal people and turning them into ravenous violent psychopaths who will try to burn people alive with them.

We need to strictly enforce background checks to ensure only law-abiding, mentally stable people get their hands on matches. In fact, it might be a good idea to restrict possession of matches to only law enforcement officers and military personnel who are properly trained in their use.

Matches burn for entirely too long and need to have 'magazine-size' limitations placed upon them to limit their burn time; in order to reduce the likelihood of them setting other stuff on fire.

The framers of the Constitution could never have imagined the danger that modern matches pose to the general public; so any reference to fire-starting devices should only apply to the flint-and-steel tinder boxes available at the time the Constitution was written.

You simply cannot blame the women for her actions. You have to blame the tools she used to commit the violence. If those tools weren't so readily available, she wouldn't have tried to harm her son at all.

Oh this poor woman. Everytime she looks into her son's eyes she sees that horrible man who use to beat her. It's not fair to her to have to see his face every day in her son. What else could she have done really? /s

This should be a monthly feature in this sub like that guy in r/atheism who compiles a monthly list of all the rabis, ministers, priests, ayatollahs and such who find themselves in the criminal justice system.

In the case of religious leaders, the crimes are typically of the psycho-sexual sort, but murder creeps in routinely.

I honestly think that, because of the numbers we've seen recently, we genuinely also need a campaign to do something about female teachers raping male children. A 'teach teachers not to rape' campaign or something. Enough is enough.
