Why do women value confidence as the number 1 attractive trait in a guy when most of them I have talked to seem to really lack it? Has anyone else picked up on this?

It's not just women. EVERYONE is attracted to confidence. Why? Because we're pack animals, and we're all looking for someone else to shoulder the burdens of leadership. Leading a group and failing to achieve your objective is hard, just about every hates that feeling. Worse, even developing a plan of action that has the potential to fail paralyzes most people.

So when someone comes along who is highly confident, we are naturally attracted to them because it means less stress for ourselves.

Women like the focus of attention more than men, since that is how they were treated as kids; girls are usually praised with attention, boys less so. Its about that.

So getting the attention of a popular man is like winning the biggest trophy in the room. Ironically its actually very like some men who go for women because of their bodies only-its a subconscious status thing.

I'm not knocking either behaviour-the difference is that feminists slam men for their choice but stay silent on the mirror behaviour in women.

If we are apes then women look for dominance. Men - and male apes - who are dominant are confident or look that way, I suppose. Women also love men whom other women love. We, as apes, have a build in hierarchy "monitor".

By the way, dominant "alpha" males have much higher stress hormone levels than other males (except for those who are on the lowest rung of the ladder and get bullied by everyone).
