FGM was never a western practice. MGM is. It's easy to look at the behavior of people in the out group and come to the conclusion that their behavior is barbaric, and yet still be completely oblivious to the true nature of your own cultural practices.

To ban MGM also requires that people confront their needless mutilation of their sons and their own sexual dysfunction. That's tough.
