Isn't whole idea of the Common Law that from now on everybody can appeal to the harm any punishment could do to the career? I know it's not that simple but didn't the judge open the door for such a defense anyway?

I believe the situation has (sort of) been reversed with the brock turner case. He was given jail time but the judge gave him only 6 months and he got out in half that. He committed rape.

Edit: It's kinda sad that every time I post any kind of criticism or ask any kind of question on this subreddit I get downvoted to hell. In my eyes the MRA community used to be far more accepting; if someone didn't understand something or saw a fault in an argument the reality would be explained to them. Now we're just as bad as many feminists, trying to hide opposing ideas. In order to hit any kind of mainstream media we can't just shut off anyone asking questions, we have to enlighten them!
