When I saw how many comments are supporting Davies and ripping feminism, I had to double-check that I was in fact reading the Guardian.

You don't expect to see such politically incorrect views in the extreme left wing Guardian, of all places...

There's valid points on why WEP could lose, but the whole thing is spinning a narrative about Davies.

His attempts to derail legislation to protect victims of domestic violence,

We know about the tripe that is the Istanbul Convention. It's sexist and damaging to victims and offenders that seek help.

his views that employers should be able to pay disabled people less,

There's legitimate arguments as to why disabled should be allowed to seek lower pay, and legitimate arguments against.

and what some have labelled his repeated “lobbying for blacking up” have served their purpose and attracted the attention of national media, the ire of equality campaigners and helped him to find fans among disenfranchised white men.

Then, they reference a 7 year old article (https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2009/dec/18/philip-davies-political-correctness-campaign). He does not "lobby" for blacking up. He asks why it's inappropriate as well as asks several questions that are legitimately about double standards in ideas of discrimination. ("Whether it was lawful for an advert for a job working with victims of domestic violence to specify that applicants had to be female and/or black or ethnic minority.") Black face isn't PC, and may be offensive (if you're not Sarah Silverman apparently, or Dave Chappel in the reverse). But getting people to understand that position isn't going to work if you go after them when they ask "Why?"
