"The facility — featuring a lounge and TV area — allows for free movement and has single and double rooms, along with cooking amenities."

Wow, how will she ever survive such a harsh punishment? Makes me wonder what the women's prisons are like in comparison...

"Court psychologist Heidi Kastner, who testified during the earlier trial, said that Carranza was accountable for her actions and that she had a high chance of relapse, Metro writes.

The psychologist had also suggested therapy would not work for the killer."

Suggests that women's prisons are rehabilitating or at least that's the purpose. Men's prisons are solely for punishment.

Also stationed at the new destination are 45 nurses, 18 therapists, four doctors and eight prison guards.

Useful post. Should be stickied.

I don't know about that. I have family that work in corrections, and they say that female prisons are worse than male prisons. Also that people don't want to get assigned to the woman's prison because they are much nastier and meaner than the males and they are a lot more difficult to deal with.

So the women's prisons are nicer with more amenities but the women in them are mean ungrateful wretches compared to the male inmates in their worse prisons. Hmm, I suppose you mean in personal interactions with prison staff. Sounds like the pussy pass to me: women are licensed to say and do whatever they want—in or out of prison—without fear of the physical beatings men know to expect if they get lippy with authority. And I don't just mean prison guards. Among men there is a degree of "authority" that being able to kick someone's ass carries with it. That brings with it better behavior among men who want to avoid a beating.

The downside is that male bullying is more physical—if no less vicious—than bullying among females. We men correct each other with combat and I don't think that's always a bad thing. Except when it's of the proxy violence sort where we're encouraged to protect women's "honor" at all costs. And then there's the "never hit a woman" bullshit that "egalitarian" feminists are only too happy to take advantage of no matter what they say or who they physically attack.

Yes, I was really commenting on the experiences with the inmates more than the actually physical prison itself

I gathered that :-)

I have to disagree with you 110% based on my own family.

My father did over 25 years in a Federal Maximum Security Prison for Men as Correctional Officer.

A woman's prison is a walk in the park when compared to men's prison. It is far safer for the guards. My father has worked in both, the women never threatened to kill hos children. The statistics also support this as well.

Canadian Prison System by the way.

Why did they know he had kids in the first place?

[–]andejoh[S] 1 point2 points3 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Maybe they didn't. Could be a lucky guess. Would that make it less effective? He would have no idea if they got that information from another guard or a neighbor, etc. Could make not knowing a more effective form of intimidation.

General threats to family generally.

That was until I was 8 and we ran to into a guy out on parole at Home Depot. He ended up going back not long after we ran into him.
