She could have went through an adoption agency and walked away with no medical bills, a couple grand in cash or items, and no jail time. Assuming someone wanted to adopt that unborn child specifically at the time. Sometimes people make no sense. Edit: Would of have to signed legal paperwork early into the pregnancy.
