It's almost a trope at this point to use aspergers/HFA as an excuse, but it's still a real condition. I was diagnosed as a kid, attended social skills classes at ages 7-10 because I would isolate myself, and I had to attend a special high-school for kids with social/emotional difficulties because I couldn't function in a regular high-school. I'm not just a self-diagnosing special-snowflake.

That being said, I also try not to think about it or let if define me, because I know that blaming all your problems on something out of your control is a useless exercise. However, I think at some point you have to acknowledge reality and the fact that what works for one person may not for another.

And before you asked yes I:

Lift 4x a week for 2 years now

Am not living with my parents and have my career/finances in good shape

Meditate 15 minutes a day (mostly)

Started out cold-approaching at-least one girl once a week for about 3 months (This was before moving and didn't care if I got a weird reputation in that area. Always direct, such as "Hi, your cute. Want a number?" )

Have a much stronger inner-game and no longer base as much of my self esteem on success/failure with women

Started talking a lot more with strangers, saying weird things to develop thicker skin and not give a shit what people think of me

Spent tons of hours reading up on and practicing body-language and tone of voice. Good for short interactions and quick flirts, but takes a lot of concentration to implement manually and I can only manage 5-10 minutes at a time before I burn out and need a break. Small parts seemed to stick with me permanently, but not much.

I've been doing most of this for two years now after discovering TRP, and although it has dramatically improved nearly every aspect of my life, I'm still falling short of my original goal; to actually get laid. I can only act "normal" for 5-10 mins (normal as defined as me noticing that I receive positive responses from the average girl), but then I can't keep it up and fall back to "myself".

And no, don't give me that bullshit advice to be confident in "yourself". You all know that kid that's happy and confident yet still radiates autistic weirdness. That's how I am when being myself, and while some girls may like it, they are by far in the minority and even they are usually only incidentally interested and not enthusiastic. I save being "myself" for my small number of actual friends.

Given my situation, I think my best bet is to stick to ONS (it's a lot easier to be someone else for a ONS than a whole relationship), and focus on closing quickly in bars/clubs.

So despite my rambling post I'm actually looking for some constructive advice/help, preferentially from someone who overcame a similar situation.

Is there anything I should be doing differently? If I just believe hard enough that I am not an autist will I stop being one? Do you have a good social exercise/experiment I could go out and do this week that you think would help? Anyone want to talk on skype/hangouts/kik and maybe tell me about my mannerisms you notice that people IRL are too polite/non-autistic to talk about? Will my dad one day not be disappointed in me?

TL;DR Tell an actual autist how to be a non-autist
