These are the weakest arguments I've ever seen. People aren't mad at trump for saying pussy. They're mad because he bragged about sexual assault. Starting off your article with such a blatant straw man destroys all credibility and professionalism.

[–]bufedad -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

He didn't brag about sexual assault. He bragged that because he was rich and famous women would consent to just about anything. That's the opposite of sexual assault.

[+]JustDrinkingOutLoud points 9 years ago [recovered] (5 children) | Copy Link

He brags about kissing women without warning and without consent, just as multiple women and witnesses have come forward and stated he does. If it's happened on multiple occasions, he himself says he does it, the tone of the conversation is jocular and self-aggrandizing, and the act itself is, by definition, sexual assault...

Then, yes. He's bragging about sexual assault.
He may not see it as sexual assault, but that doesn't change what it is.

[–]bufedad -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago (4 children) | Copy Link

just as multiple women and witnesses have come forward and stated he does.

You mean the women who have been proven to be lying? The ones who stated it happened at events that didn't exist? Those women?

He brags about kissing women without warning and without consent

Without warning is not without consent.

[+]JustDrinkingOutLoud points 9 years ago [recovered] (3 children) | Copy Link

Without warning is INHERENTLY without consent.
You can't consent to something you have no idea is about to happen.

Without warning is INHERENTLY without consent.

No, it isn't.

[+]JustDrinkingOutLoud points 9 years ago [recovered] (1 child) | Copy Link

You can't consent to something you're unaware might happen, and the vast majority of people's default mode is to not be kissed aggressively on the mouth by strangers.

You can't consent to something you're unaware might happen

You absolutely can. People do it all the time.

[–]Sloth_Brotherhood -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I better use some Tic Tacs just in case I start kissing her. You know, I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait.

How can she consent of he doesn't even wait?

[–]bufedad -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

How can she consent of he doesn't even wait?

Really? How can a woman consent to a kiss, if you don't wait?

[–]Smilme 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

Is trump a douche bag? No doubt. But that 'woman's March' was fucking abhorrent. Assaulting reporters, rioting, there are no excuses for that type of behavior. If you want to justify people's behavior by making it seem like they are victims then you will get no sympathy from me or any other sane person. This victim mentality is not benefitting anyone and needs to stop ASAP

[–]BruceCampbell123 2 points3 points4 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

This is false. The woman's march was completely peaceful. I think you're getting that mixed up with the protests on the day of the inauguration.

[–]Sloth_Brotherhood -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

That was not the women's march. That was the day before the women's march. There wasn't a single arrest at the women's march.

[–]Smilme 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Valid point. Thank you for brining that to my attention. However I will still argue that it applies; only to a lesser degree because the woman's March was far less radical than the anti-trump rallies. With that said I don't really see the need for a woman's March in North America. If anything it's a waste of time and it blocks the roads for people trying to make a living

[–]BruceCampbell123 -1 points0 points1 point 9 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

He didn't brag about sexual assault. I'm not a fan of the guy, but you'd have to be ignoring context to jump to that conclusion. Trump was explaining to the radio host what it's like to be at the top level and what women are willing to let you do to them. People who are that rich live in a completely different world than the one you and I live in.

[+]JustDrinkingOutLoud points 9 years ago* [recovered] (2 children) | Copy Link

I'm not ignoring context, the entire conversation is available online in audio and transcribed forms. Trump brags about how he "just starts kissing them" and "doesn't even wait," which is corroborated by women who have dealt with him in business setting where he's introduced himself by kissing them full-on on the mouth repeatedly without their forewarning or consent. They weren't "willing" to let him do that to them, they just didn't know it was coming, and on the repeat incidents they state that they were too afraid for their professional lives or for other reasons that amount to intimidation to stand up to him about it.

So we have Trump talking about something he himself is saying he does, and that witnesses and "victims" have stated he does, and so then the "context" of the whole thing becomes not "joking about things that could be possible" but "bragging about things that he's actually done."

The conversation isn't "I imagine you could get away with BLANK," it's "I've done BLANK, and they didn't do anything about it!" Not "I bet you can do anything," but "you CAN do anything," followed by a suspiciously specific example.

[–]BruceCampbell123 -2 points-1 points0 points 9 years ago* (1 child) | Copy Link

Ok, that's fair. I'm with you on that. However, where is the similar outrage with the exploits of Bill Clinton as well as the subsequent cover up initiated by Hillary? I know it sounds like I'm deflecting. However, I'm a advocate of consistency.

[–]practeerts 0 points1 point2 points 9 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

That might have been an amusing article if there was any semblance of professionalism in its writing.
