These tweets could be construed as not entirely serious, but I'm starting to think there may be a serious issue behind this, because, although I have never really understood these things, there are some women who, for whatever reason, like the idea and even the actuality of being raped and will go looking for it.

Where did this come from? Why?

It begins to explain a few things with regard to the problems feminism has been having in policing rape culture.

Why the difficulty getting women to report rape to the police? Why the sense of guilt, or is it shame, some women seem to have?

Perhaps some women prefer to act timid around men and enjoy being subdued. They will acknowledge the huge risks involved in being raped but will nevertheless seek out the thrill of losing control.

This is not something I've thought much about before and it's not something I would have acknowledged myself, but I am beginning to suspect it throws current feminist thinking about rape into even deeper disarray than I previously thought.

The possibility that some women may actually want to be raped is something that feminism has always been at pains to deny. But why the need to so strenuously deny something so plausible, yet at the same time, upon a closer examination of the darker side of human nature, perhaps true? Methinks the lady doth protest too much.

Why do so many women have rape fantasies, as first emerged to public view with the publication off "My Secret Garden" some decades ago? Feminists celebrated this groundbreaking work in anthropology as a landmark that established women's sexuality and sexual agency. No longer were women the mere objects of male sexual desire, lying back and thinking of England.

The problem of rape fantasy, initially so shocking and problematic for feminism, was finally dismissed as just that: a mere fantasy that no woman could actually want to happen because of the loss of control it entails.

But is this enough? Do those women who fantasize about rape really not want, at least in part, what they fantasize? If they do, there is a terrible dilemma about the culpability of those men who effectively give them what they want.

It is perhaps something like this that these tweets really are pointing at. "Bad" girls rejecting feminist policing of sexuality and now coming out as wanting to be raped, even at the same time as paradoxically wanting some control in who rapes them.

I don't think even the MRM has really got to grips with this, preferring not to tackle feminism head on in this way, but instead to emphasize male victimhood in rape as well, including the initially surprising fact that men can be raped by women, and explaining the body's response as purely physiological.

I'm not doubting the merit in this way of arguing against feminism on this issue, but I don't think it's the whole story. Why, for example, don't men fantasize about being raped? Their fantasies are more likely to entail unrestricted access to women than loss of control.

TLDR: This is more than just humour. It seems some women not only fantasize about rape but seek it out in reality. Feminism has always denied this dark side of women's nature. If true, it throws up huge paradoxes about the culpability of the men involved.
