They want to change the term "equality" to mean "female supremacy" while maintaining the current definition of equality. So basically they want everyone to think that giving women special rights, privileges and protections means they are being treated equally to men.

I used to be active in feminist organizations on my college campus.

Here were some of our objectives:

Getting plan B to be over the counter.

Increasing funding for planned parenthood, so they would not have to close health care centers and/or abortion provider centers.

Explaining to people that Plan B was not the same as RU-486.

Explaining to people how our domestic violence center services, both on and off campus, functioned, and how they could access those services.

Explaining to people how our county functioned in terms of rape reports, in an effort to encourage people to report quickly. We offered many victims' services - including an advocate that would be called to come to the hospital to meet with a rape victim at the moment she arrived at the hospital, if the victim wanted someone by her side while doing the rape examination.

Those are the issues I can most easily think of that we worked with.

Feminism works like a sect. It's single purpose is power and personal enrichment for its self-proclaimed leaders or figureheads.

Ultimately, it does not 'hate' men as much as it needs to demonize them in order to achieve power and exploit their productive abilities.

Then you have the 'officers', who won't achieve critical mass to make it a career, but leverage the damage to society for their own gain. They are the supremacists.

And as with any sect, the rank and file are believers. These do hate men with a vengeance, and enjoy the spoils such as discrimination in their favour, the ability to claim rape at any time, or just to vent their bitterness on men without consequence.

You also have this margin of well-meaning, equality feminists. They're useful idiots allowing the rest plausible deniability.

As to their purpose, they have none.

Their effort is incredibly destructive, but their leaders don't care. When the shite hits the fan, they'll be either rich or dead.

The officers think society will bear the load anyway, and believers can't think that far.

As others have said, its only purpose is to sustain itself. All it's other goals, regardless of the particular faction, are ultimately for this aim. Combating "patriarchy" and "toxic masculinity" is to keep men in a state of guilt so that they support feminism to atone for their sins. Trying to reduce women's accountability and agency, fear-mongering about rape and misogyny - that's to keep women dependent on feminism, to support feminism out of fear.

Some feminists are just scammers, particularly those in power. They know it's a con, and don't believe in what they're saying. Some feminists (particularly radfems) are women who have legitimately suffered some sort of trauma (such as an abusive father), and rather than treating it, they develop this intense fear and hatred of men from their warped post-trauma mindset. These feminists then scare other women into believing this worldview, that men hate and oppress women. You can usually tell the difference between the damaged (they demonstate obvious mental issues in their paranoid, occasionally incoherent ramblings), and the brainwashed (they may say paranoid things like "men are taught to hate women", but it's easy to tell that it's a regurgitated belief.) Some are the "edgy teenager" variant that says "kill all men", "i dont care abt men lol", "men are weak" - they're just doing it for the shock value. Not much different than trolls, except they actually believe in the underlying concepts (female superiority, male uselessness).

And some genuinely believe that what they're doing is the right thing. They want to be a good person, and they follow the moral doctrine of feminism to lead them down the path of righteousness. They are the type of people who are uncomfortable with ambiguity - they need something to spell out a very simple, absolute morality. Feminism is thus defined as good, patriarchy (the absence of feminism) is defined as bad. Any other notions of right and wrong are either attributed to feminist doctrine or discarded. And so they do not question when feminists go against men - if feminism is good, then what they do must be good, or at least for the greater good, no matter what it is.

There are 2 groups here: 1) those that make a living out of feminism; and 2) the rest who are along for the ride.

Feminism has been a very lucrative gravy train for some for several decades now. Professional feminists get lucrative jobs running nonprofit orgs for women, speaking gigs, book deals, cushy research grants and consulting gigs. For the most part they have no useful skills apart from being feminists, so if feminism disappeared tomorrow they'd be in the poorhouse. Naturally they want to keep the game going as long as possible, to keep flogging the dead horse. So they keep scraping the bottom of the barrel to find causes to champion, which are actually excuses to keep feminism going.

Having solved all the women's rights issues, as you noted, now feminism has moved onto ending mansplaining and stopping "bossy", bullshit like that. They also lie about things like the "wage gap" and "rape culture" in an attempt to trick people into thinking feminism still has some serious issues to solve. It's all to keep the gravy train running.

The rest of the feminists are simply followers. The idea that they're fighting the oppression of the mythical "patriarchy" gives meaning to their otherwise ordinary lives, which is exciting to them. And victimhood is an addictive drug: who wants to take personal responsibility for your failures, setbacks or lack of achievement when you can just blame the whole thing on someone else? When you miss out on that promotion at work you wanted, do you really want to face the fact that you just didn't work as hard as the guy who got it? Isn't is so much easier and more comfortable to blame it all on the patriarchy instead? Yes, it sure is sister. We understand your unhappiness and frustration and we're here to tell you that it's not your fault. It's all the fault of the patriarchy. But together we can smash the patriarchy and live happily every after.

The goal is and has always been self-perpetuation.

It's important to recognize that it's not just "third-wave" or "modern" or "radical" feminism. The problem is feminism period. It has always been about securing special rights and privileges for a small, wealthy, pampered group of women of the upper and upper-middle class while ensuring that only men continue to bear the responsibilities associated with those privileges.

As the pursuit of these goals has become more lucrative and most of the more rational-seeming goals have been achieved, feminists have become more hysterical and more desperate to maintain their relevance, and more importantly the income that goes along with their relevance. That doesn't change the fact that this has been, from the very beginning, the goal of the movement: to achieve, not for all women but just for feminists, as much wealth and status, as many rights and privileges as possible in exchange for as little effort as possible.

It has never been about equality. It's not even really about gender. These are just smokescreens used to cover the pure, self-interested avarice that motivates these people.

I think a lot of feminists have dedicated their lives to the idea of society being a patriarchy that oppresses women. If there is no patriarchy then their lives will lack meaning, and worse, a lot of the things they have done to 'smash the patriarchy' would be morally wrong. They simply can't let go of the idea without massive cognitive dissonance.

So feminism is desperately grasping at straws trying to keep feminism relevant and not caring about the damge they do along the way.

Why do people hate?

The answer is most likely that in evolutionary terms this sort of severe tribalism and xenophobia with respect to competing non-related groups of creatures, was advantageous. That seems kind of obvious really. Apart from a need to continually exchange DNA between these small groups, it seems like most interactions would be negative. The real interesting question is how humanity ever managed to get past the hatred.

Hatred is out of style now, but for most recorded history it's been in style and considered moral. It's only recently that liberal morality (equality) has replaced conservative "charity begins at home" style morality (treat people close to you better than strangers).

In fact feminism is the last of the big hate movements, except of course patriotism.
