Top stories from Men's Rights and Feminist subs: Is the media trustworthy? Is it worthwhile bothering with or just one endless supply of ragebait?

One thing just struck me about some differences:

The Men's Rights stories seem to display exactly the kind of vulnerability that mainstream media - influence as it is by feminism - seems to insist that men should display more often than don't.

For example, 'Imagine if it was the other way around': Teen films violent female assault and That Male Birth Control Trial You’re All Laughing About Left People Infertile seem to me to displaying exactly the kind of vulnerability that men are apparently incapable of displaying - see e.g. here in The Mask You Live in.

It's ironic that exactly this kind of display of emotion about something happening in their lives should draw so much hate and vilification - and from the very same people complaining that men aren't emotional enough!

In Feminism, they are protesting about what they've got; in Men's Rights, they are protesting about what they don't have.

It makes me wonder if the seeming obsession with personal violence is why certain kinds of feminism are especially attractive to young women and women with mental health issues - both teenagers and the depressed tend to have an anxious outlook and see the dark side in things - almost to the point where they are drawn to it.

Maybe feminist blogs and subs help fuel that desire for dark romance?

We're being divided against one another in order to weaken our relationships and society in general. Reddit is a vehicle for this.

Maybe instead of looking at the source, look at the data and evidence that the source provides, if you want to find any sort of trend or make a convincing argument.

I don't know what excites feminist (or female-centred) subs cos I haven't looked; nevertheless, it's fair to point out the preponderance of outrage associated with meeja articles. I would add that shit said on "social" media is at least as popular as a source of offence on the subs I know of and I would be astonished if the same didn't apply elsewhere.

As to "Is the media trustworthy?" the answer has to be yes and no. It really is a case of caveat emptor.
