Throwaway, btw. I've been hearing a lot of music with feminist themes lately. Some groups even where this theme is present in most of their music. Basically, women kicking ass and taking names, or defying expected roles, or just doing what they want and couldn't before. Some of it is catchy and my point is not that it's bad or anything.

What I've noticed is a lot of this music doesn't necessarily frame itself around a man or men in general. The lyrics deal more with the woman finding herself as stronger than she thought she was before. By contrast, I was listening to some music the other day on a random google playlist and noticed that most of the songs would say how much a girl mattered, or was missed, or desired. It was all framed around the woman. I decided to keep skipping until I found a song that wasn't in the same vein and I skipped a lot of songs!

I realized there doesn't seem to be a lot of male-positive music out there that isn't either framed around a woman or being uber-male and kicking ass. To be honest, I'm not even sure what it would sound like! There sure is a lot of country music framed around a woman but they do have the occasional song about a guy and his buds or his father.

Anyone have any recommendations? I was going to post in FEMra Debates but approved poster rules and whatnot.
