My 9th grade PE (Physical Education) Teacher was female. We would have graded physical 'tests' where the grading curve was based upon your sex.

Examples: A male would need to run a mile in less than 7:30 to receive an A for that test. A female would have to run that same mile in less that 8:00 to receive an A. Pullups were even shadier. Males would have to do 10 pullups for an A. Females simply had to do one pullup and hold it for 10 seconds for an A.

I was a scrawny little chicken shit boy and we had quite a few athletic females in my class, so these grading curves didn't make sense to me. I would have gotten average grades with the female standards, but I was failing miserably when placed on the male standard.

One of the first few days, a female classmate asked why males/females weren't graded the same. The teacher replied that males are genetically more stronger/athletic, so it was unfair to grade the sexes the same. However, the teacher added that females are actually more flexible.

The day of reckoning came a few weeks later. The physical 'test' that day was on flexibility. You sit with your legs out straight and stick your feet into a box. The top of the box is like a ruler that extends over your legs. You reach as far as you can and the teacher records how flexible you are. I figured that since females are more flexible, the tables would be turned on this one and the males would have an easier grading curve. NOPE. Teacher simply made the grading curve the same for the entire class. Didn't see my grades turning around anytime soon, so I transferred over to the Tennis class instead.
