We all know the current myth of the gender pay gap. That when we look at ALL the variables, and you compare apples to apples, it virtually disappears.
However, there IS a gender pay gap. Women are making less money.
Some of this can be boiled down to simple life choices. Many women choose to be sahms and work part time. There are definitely social pressures that help to contribute to these decisions being made.
As an anecdotal story, I have a niece that just started college. She got a 34 on her ACT and is amazingly talented at math. Any stem course would be thrilled to have her. And what did she choose? Teacher.
Nothing at all wrong with being a teacher, but WHY would she choose that? It's because it's a mother friendly profession. End of story. And it frustrates me to no end because she is so damn smart and could do exceptionally well in stem.
The moral of the story is that feminism should change their plan of attack and stop with the wage gap. There is something else going on here that they need to label differently. What would you name this phenomenon?
