Since it is 'mansplaining' to give a woman information, I should keep that in mind the next time a woman asks me how to put-out the grease fire blazing on her stove.

I'm reminded of the old saying: If you can't handle the heat, get out of the kitchen. If anyone (male or female) cannot handle reasonable criticism or correction online, they need to get the fuck offline. The dude who corrected the astrochick was right - water does not "spontaneously" boil in the space equivalent zone. Water boils in the SEZ as a function of reduced ambient pressure. The word "spontaneous" means to happen without premeditation or without external stimuli. This obviously does not apply to water boiling in the SEZ. I assume the astrochick probably doesn't have any degrees in use of the English language. I also recognise the male critic's correction is a technicality of the English language. Nonetheless, a simple acknowledgement of the improper use of the word spontaneous would have been a minor concession on the astrochick's part. As it was, the astrochick decided to get all butthurt and defensive about it and all went to hell for her from there.

Actually, that reminds me of another old saying: Don't feed the trolls. Basically, if you show someone you can be easily butthurt, you can bet your life they will go out of their way to butthurt you.

Being corrected by less qualified men is a phenomenon reported by many women

Because taking their word that they are in fact "less qualified" makes perfect sense. Not to mention the fact that everyone faces "know it alls" who think they know better than you, regardless what genitals you've got.

Some people are just assholes. Shocker. Take a look in the mirror lady and you'll see one.

The thing with the NASA astronaut isn't even necessarily mansplaining the way the feminists have traditionally defined it. It's not my field so I can't really say who was right and who was wrong, but if he was technically correct and she was technically incorrect that's not "mansplaining" unless mansplaining now means challenging a woman's false assertions with truthful information.

I suspect that he was correct. I also think that she knew that, but used terms that non-astronauts would understand or had simply picked a bad way to phrase it.
