Women, not men, are the fastest-growing group in US jails.

Again, I'll quote the Bureau of Justice Statistics, 2013 report, page 6, table 5 : women are 7% of US prisoners! There are 13 times more males than females in prison!

So yeah, when you put a 3rd woman in prison, it's a 50% increase over the previous 2...

And that dipshit author manages to quote the exact same table as me, down to the 110,000 women in prison (she rounded, because math is hard), all the while omitting the 1,463,500 men!

Admittedly, few men are mothers. But many are fathers. Also, irrelevant.

I won't go into detail about her arguments, they're basically whining about women's prisons not being a luxury resorts (as opposed to men's).

But she still manages:

Cash bail policies often hurt poor women. [...] In 2014, all women typically earned 79 cents for every dollar men earned

Let's never incarcerate female offenders because muh wage gap!!!111!!eleven!!1!

I'm certain her insane combo skillz get him righteous bragging rights down at the leg-hair growing club.

While there were fewer than 8,000 women in US jails in 1970, that number soared to 110,000 in 2014, a fourteenfold increase, compared with a fourfold increase for men during the same time, according to the Vera Institute's report.

It looks like equality is gradually being achieved.

The reason that more women are going to prison is because of minimum sentencing laws. Judges can't cut women slack like they used to. I think this is a good thing. Let them whine.
