Why does the Internet need to be safe?

So long as you are anonymous you can enjoy all the safety you can ever want. If you put your name and details out there you subject yourself to being exposed to personal hostility. We all know this. Everybody understands that in terms of security and privacy anonymity is the best tool you have. Nobody needs to know your gender. Nobody needs to know anything about you online. You are safe so long as you are anonymous.

Assholes and criticism come with being famous but nobody asked you to be famous - you decided that for yourself knowing all along that there was a chance you'd be attacked publically.

Choose anonymity and you choose safety and acknowledge that with fame comes risks and rewards.

You made the decision to be Internet brave and put your true persona out there so be brave and accept the good with the bad or go back to the safety of anonymity like the rest of us and risk nothing and be rewarded with nothing.

Once again, "feminists" are claiming female inferiority to dealing with so much as reading a mean comment, so they must be protected like children.

Feminists do this a lot. Typical feminist schizophrenia. Effortlessly switching between self-glorification and the whining victimhood.

... women are taking action to claim the internet as a safe space. But the law is letting them down.

DAMN YOU, FREE SPEECH!

...

Oh wait, Aussies don't have that.

Alchin also argued he was drunk at the time. Sound familiar? This is the same pitiful excuse violent men often attempt to hide behind, including the Stanford University rapist, Brock Turner.

Sexual assault, cupcake, not rape. Two different crimes. I know American law is scary and mysterious, but at least try and use the terminology correctly.

Also last week, we were horrified to learn news of a prominent columnist who deleted her social media accounts after a troll threatened to rape her five-year-old daughter.

How could anyone possibly argue that online abuse is harmless?

....

Was anyone actually raped as a result of this tweet?

Was there a reasonable likelihood that anyone would be raped by this tweet?

If a man unleashed a torrent of violent verbal abuse and made threats to rape a woman on a train, he’d most likely be accosted by concerned bystanders, arrested and charged with harassment.

And then when he shoots some of those concerned bystanders, sort of like the druggie shot the two soldiers in South Carolina who decided to practice intervention on behalf of a woman stealing drugs, then what? Oh, that's right, males are disposable.

That's why this feminist blather about "intervention" is dangerous and is going to get more people killed: In most situations of force or violence, you have incomplete information; you don't know the capacity or capability of the other person to use force. So when you strap on your white cape to fly to Milady's rescue, you might come up on a guy who is just some drunk punk trying to finger-pop a drunk chick in the bushes (Brock Turner). Or you come up against Sammy K. Mixson, a guy who was involved in the death of Antwon Hill when Darren Talington tried to rescue Milady from getting hit by Mixson with a beer bottle; Talington went outside to fight Mixson and got shot.

So what makes the online world so different? Do we inherently believe that because it is “virtual” that it doesn’t make the emotional impacts of harassment any less profound?

Because Twitter, unlike IRL, has a "Block" button? When all else fails, the computer, unlike you, can be safely turned off or walked away from?

Sure, but in this case there's a possibility of doing something about it, and a good chance that they will. They'll make it a safe space for women and keep letting feminists bash men, and that'll be that.

You are a no - good piece of shit. You fucking are the worst rape - abortion survivor ever. Your mom lied to you when she thought you could participate in the special Olympics, not becuase you are a normal human but because you are so fat that the chair you play the "Special" needs version of a kindergarten learning program in has melded to your body. You are so terrible that hitler would have rejected you even if you were blonde hair blued babe. The best route for you in life now is to saw your foot off with a rusty spoon and let the gangrene kill you. - A internet warm up
