UNTIL? Do you think things are getting steadily better? No, they are getting worse.

DON'T GET MARRIED EVER.

Never married (or will), but I assume most men who get married don't actually believe they are marrying a terrible person.

FTFY !

[–]Unconfidence -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (78 children) | Copy Link

I'm getting married in a few years. None of this doom and gloom scares me.

[–]JackGetsIt 10 points11 points12 points 10 years ago* (4 children) | Copy Link

This is why you shouldn't Marry. She will convince you and her self that she is committed 'til death do us part' until she isn't. Light switch affect. Women will literally rewrite the script in their heads about you, your relationship, and everything you built. She will take this new story in her head around to her friends and family who will take her side; and the court system will give her your stuff to go happily live the rest of her life.

That's why it's such a trap. Every guy thinks 'his' girl is different. Statistically she's not.

[–]Unconfidence 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

What stuff?

[–]JackGetsIt 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago* (2 children) | Copy Link

Your house, your car, your investment account(s), your projected earnings. Your stuff.

[–]Unconfidence -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Of those two, the only ones I have are car and earnings, and she doesn't get any of that because hers are greater in both areas.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

One of the few cases I would say it is okay to get married is when she has as much to lose financially as he does.

[–][deleted] 9 points10 points11 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

I wonder how many divorce raped men said something like this...

This is not every divorce case. Its certianly not the case with my sisters, and she nearly proved her ex was a psychopath in court. (He was, she had him threatning to kill his kids on recording)

The courts ruled in favor of him on everything but kids.

The problem is that we arent seeing fair laws and laws being actually implimented evenly.

[–]Unconfidence 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (12 children) | Copy Link

She will have the power to have you removed from your home and belongings

Already does, I live with her. That's independent of marriage.

if you only have one car, she gets it.

She has her own car in much better condition than mine and will be better situated to replace it when necessary.

You will be forced to pay, at least, alimony

Only if I make more than her, elsewise I can feasibly sue her for alimony. And considering she makes over twice what I make, and I have no intentions of seeking high earnings, I don't think this is a serious risk. Maybe if I win that lottery I never play or write a book I never write.

You will appear before a judge and...

Nope nope nope see above.

And if children are involved

Nope and never, both childfree and she's happily incapable.

I'm not saying men shouldn't be wary before marrying, I'm saying that the idea that no man should marry is ridiculous. Some people can be in positions where it is okay.

[–]odel555q 7 points8 points9 points 10 years ago (9 children) | Copy Link

Some people can be in positions where it is okay.

Everyone thinks they're one of the exceptions. There's only one way to find out that you're wrong.

[–]Unconfidence -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Can you explain to me how this could go badly for me?

[–]odel555q 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (7 children) | Copy Link

No, I can't. You'll just have to find out for yourself.

[–]Unconfidence 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

Seems like that is common around this thread.

"Your marriage will fuck up."

"How?"

"Just trust me, it will."

Like there's never been a successful marriage or anything.

[–]odel555q 4 points5 points6 points 10 years ago (5 children) | Copy Link

You're asking me to predict the future which I obviously cannot do. There's absolutely no point in me explaining "how this could go badly" because it's all conjecture, you're just looking for a pointless debate.

My point is that every person who has ever walked into a complete clusterfuck has always thought that they had all the bases covered and there was nothing that could go wrong. You run down your checklist and think "well, I got this all sewn up!" It's the things you don't know or don't think of that cause the problems.

When you read a story about a guy getting completely screwed over by his wife, do you think he just didn't bother to think it through? Or do you think he saw that she was crazy and just said "ah, I'll probably be ok"? They all thought they had it figured out up until the point when it all went wrong, and only when it's too late do they realize that their cleverness was all in their minds.

This is just like a teenager thinking they've got the world all figured out and their parents say "just wait, you'll learn". You think you're different and you don't want to learn from other people's experience, and the only way you'll know any different is to go through it yourself and realize that maybe you don't have perfect knowledge of the situation.

[–]Mackowatosc 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Only if I make more than her, elsewise I can feasibly sue her for alimony.

And be denied because she is a woman :)

Sometimes people ask for examples not because they cannot find them on their own, but because in doing so it assures that by addressing that example, you will be addressing an actual argument that person is making.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

A man can be given 15 minutes to move out of his house. The police will stand there and enforce that order. That is the power of the state.

[–]Unconfidence 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

That's if I live with her, regardless of marriage.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

So don't live with her either.

[–]Unconfidence 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

I'm going to do that regardless of marriage.

[–]civilsaint 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

Just curious...why? How do you know what you'll want to do in a few years? Are you just married to the idea of getting married?

[–]Unconfidence 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Trial and error. I feel like people nowadays have a false illusion of what's required for marriage. Most people just shouldn't be married.

[–]yummyluckycharms 3 points4 points5 points 10 years ago (36 children) | Copy Link

Great - then you shouldn't hesitate and get married right away

Others: Remember - you can lead the horse to water, but you cant force it to drink. There will always be a certain segment of the population that resists the truth - whether that be that the heliocentric system or gravity. These people cannot be told the truth, but will need to experience on their own. The best thing you can do is encourage them to run headlong to their demise and then watch with amusement when they flounder.

Men used to have all the power and it wasn't fair. Today, women have a bit too much power. A very toxic subset of females are taking advantage of that.

Hilarious. "Men" generically in sentence one. In sentence two it's women having "a bit" too much power. And then in sentence three it's just a "subset" of toxic women taking advantage of said power.

Generalities for one side. Nuanced, splitting, deflecting analysis for the other.

Sounds about right.

However, all men had more rights and power than any woman.

Totally man. Those black male slaves really dominated those aristocratic white women.

What was I thinking?

Try not to let the intellectual door hit you on the way out, "dipshit".

In other words, you're conflating the noble white dude with a black male slave.

Yeah, there's nothing remotely at issue with that analysis, yo.

Did you read my post or just that line? I'd wager you got to that and blew your stack and just couldn't wait to post more hateful bs.

Honest to god, I'm not certain if you read your OWN posts before you post them.

Or uh, I disagree that "all men had privilege over women" and that there's "no evidence to refute that". Thus, to you, a male black slave had power over the freaking Queen of England. Cause "man more power than women, durr hurr!"

You literally have to be willfully obtuse to believe that. It's like you're quoting from a 1990's hackneyed feminist playbook.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (1 child) | Copy Link

The Temperance Movement that resulted in alcohol prohibition was very much a women's movement and produced massive change. You don't honestly think that women were just sitting around twiddling their thumbs throughout history while men ignored them do you?

Doesn't scare me either. Her family is well off. mom is a successful author, aunt is a lawyer, a few uncles in design and engineering, dad is a house husband who looks after the two teenage boys and their sizeable house. I come from middle class, almost lower-middle class. i have to pay my own way through university. my parents never handed me anything and I'm broke as shit at 26, working on my masters. she already has a masters and is working in her field. I plan on marrying her. What's gonna happen if she changes her mind? take all the money I don't have? lawl.

Im already married , mensrights is NOT abot demonising women its about equality so post your hate mongering elsewhere. If you want to demonise women fuck off to r/theredpill

[–]civilsaint 10 points11 points12 points 10 years ago (8 children) | Copy Link

Why do you think this is demonizing women? It is an article about men getting better custody rights.

I don't hate women in the slightest, but if I felt the need to get married, I wouldn't do so in the current environment. It's not because of women, its because of the system that allows a woman to have an unfair advantage at a point in your relationship when you like each other the least.

I don't see how that is demonizing women.

[–]ThirdTurnip -3 points-2 points-1 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Why do you think this is demonizing women?

The article it links to is fine and something many here I'm sure would find interesting - a custody law which unfairly disadvantages men being made equitable.

But the title is pure demonization - feminism as cancer and a warning not to get married. There isn't a hint of either sentiment in the article.

[–][deleted] -4 points-3 points-2 points 10 years ago (6 children) | Copy Link

are you blind? or did you not see the part about not marrying women...

[–]civilsaint 5 points6 points7 points 10 years ago (3 children) | Copy Link

I see it in the title, but it says 'until it is safe to do so', which says to me that it isn't demonizing women themselves, but rather the system that is unfair to men.

[+][deleted] -7 points-6 points-5 points 10 years ago (2 children) | Copy Link

Its demonizing all women saying they shouldnt be married, and just shows op is a blatant sexist peice of shit who doesnt deserve to be a part of this great community that isnt sexist at all

[–]civilsaint 2 points3 points4 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Oh. I don't equate marriage with love, so I guess we're just looking at it different. Even if I spend 30 years with a woman, I probably won't ever get married. I'm not religious, so it doesn't make sense to me.

What does not wanting to marry women, or saying it's a legal liability, have to do with hating women? Do you hate all the other women you didn't marry?

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point2 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Hes saying we should marry women period, hes a sexist and shouldnt exist in this civilised society or in this community. He has opinions reserved for backwards third world nations.

[–]JackGetsIt 1 point2 points3 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

Many men that got caught up in breaking laws for the company they work for (insider training, corporate spying, environmental abuse, etc) were mostly good men that were 'incentivized' to break laws. In today's legal and social climate women are 'highly' incentivized to divorce. Women might start out with good intentions but when life throws them challenges cutting and running with a paycheck seems too easy. Nearly everything falls in their favor: the money, the kids, the outpouring of support and sympathy from friends and family that women desire. There's also a feminist narrative screamed through a media bullhorn that they are just as desired by eligible men at 32 as they were at 22.

[–]PotatoDonki -1 points0 points1 point 10 years ago* (0 children) | Copy Link

I don't think this type of conversation necessarily demonizes women. It highlights an aspect of our system that empowers women at the expense of men, and advises men to avoid subjecting themselves to it.

For example: If the state said "All married men must have a 400 lb boulder suspended over their heads by a rope," and someone said "Men, don't marry until it's safe for us to do so," are they demonizing the woman, or the rock and the rope that holds it?

[–][deleted] -2 points-1 points0 points 10 years ago (0 children) | Copy Link

DO NOT GET MARRIED, until it is safe for a man to do so.

"DONT DO "THING X" until it is 100% to our liking". Retarded.

I swear, some people in this sub are as hysterical about marriage as the feminists are about rape....
