Faludi has written with admirable empathy before about the challenges to masculinity in Stiffed: The Betrayal Of The American Man

Hah! I've seen that book. She goes-out and finds the biggest circus geeks and freakazoids she can possibly find and pretends that it is somehow representative of men in general.

"Men were always promised unlimited power and privilege and yet... society merely delivered ninety-nine percent of what it promised them. These men have been destroyed by not getting their full measure of ALL THE POWER and now must make do with NEARLY ALL THE POWER. No longer able to oppress women as much as it was once their birthright to do, they are directionless, lost, deflated. They are no longer able to crush women by standing on their necks and are, therefore, diminished and without the confidence that comes from being born masters of all they survey. The solution to their ennui, lovingly masterminded by myself, is to abolish a masculinity based on oppression and power once and for all. Once men are all clothed only in rags and dying of starvation, only then will they understand what it is to be a woman... my only wish is to help men reach this blissful, saintly state."

Is there any evidence that this story about her dad is actually true, or could it be just a publicity stunt to push copies of her book?
