Pre-nup survives wife's challenge, female journalist reports it as "man stiffs wife out of alimony and wins right to throw her out" --> Are you telling us that a contract isn't a contract when a woman signs it?

Alimony is a relic from the dark days of the patriarchy. It should be ended completely ... said no Feminist ever.

I don't really like how this comes right after the big article of how nowadays more and more women end up paying alimony. It stinks as bad as the story about the university in Sweden that abolished affirmative action as evil incarnate... after women were being left out and men got in thanks to it.

Being jaded is not cool.

It's been long touted here in /r/mensrights that the only real change to family law will happen when women start being screwed by it. This is just that theory in action.

It can seem that way, but people have been campaigning for alimony changes for years now. In Florida just about everyone in the state, and a large majority of politicians support the alimony reform bills currently being considered, even after NOW is playing the poor women card. Granted, the bills haven't passed yet but it would be a surprise after they got so far last year.

Advocates in SC have been working on this for a long time, and their literature does not indicate that they are primarily concerned with female alimony payers.

Wonder how many are up for it themselves...and people laugh at men going MGTOW...

'"The original intent of alimony was to keep the supported spouse at the same accustomed standard of living after a divorce," said local attorney Jane Merrill.'

One of the many things that irk me about alimony is the supposition that after a divorce, the spouse that is granted alimony is entitled to "the same accustomed standard of living."

Why is the spouse that is paying the alimony not granted the same entitlement?
