I don't really like how this comes right after the big article of how nowadays more and more women end up paying alimony. It stinks as bad as the story about the university in Sweden that abolished affirmative action as evil incarnate... after women were being left out and men got in thanks to it.

Being jaded is not cool.

'"The original intent of alimony was to keep the supported spouse at the same accustomed standard of living after a divorce," said local attorney Jane Merrill.'

One of the many things that irk me about alimony is the supposition that after a divorce, the spouse that is granted alimony is entitled to "the same accustomed standard of living."

Why is the spouse that is paying the alimony not granted the same entitlement?
