Nice how their policies are not gender biased. I am sure a female student would face the same fate if someone accused her of rape seven months after the fact.

That whole 'Dear Collegues'-thing is an utter disaster. It does nothing to secure justice for anyone and harms real victims and supports real perpetrators as those who should prosecute these things do not even get involved. 'preponderance of evidence' my ass.

And the 'regret equals rape'-woman should be fired and prevented from any position that merely touches the subject of sexual assault/rape.

While I can understand why he settled it's really too bad. A few of these cases need to go to court and see the schools get hammered hard financially.

That's probably the quickest way to have them change their policies. Letting them quietly settle and sweep it under the rug isn't the answer.
