The actual problem is that women want men that earn more than them and insist that they should earn the same as men. A man has little choice but to earn as much as possible because women require it. Nobody is going to lecture women about the sexism of wanting a better paid man because society is a game of "give the woman what she wants".

There's also the fact that women outspend men as consumers, meaning they are clearly spending money they don't earn. I don't think enough attention is being paid to the still-present trend for men to be financial providers to their romantic partners. If women feel they're underpaid for the work they do in the workplace, and are demanding change, they can't continue to do so and still accept financial support from men in this manner. They need to accept that men continuing to be viewed and used by women as providers may be contributing to them being paid more (to the extent that they actually are, which is debatable), and therefore that women are just as much a part of the problem as men.

What are the implications of a society in which women earn more than men? We don’t really know, but it could be disruptive to family stability.

It will be catastrophic. Hypergamy appears to be non-negotiable for the vast majority of women. They seek to partner with someone of equal or greater "value" -- meaning wealth/status/prospects. Most women would prefer to be alone rather than "date down." Their perceptions of value have nothing to do with a man's honor, integrity, work ethic, morality and so forth; it is entirely superficial just like male sexuality. However, men are much less picky.

Female sexual instincts worked well in hunter-gatherer bands because they were/are highly egalitarian. Since there is no "alpha" male who hoards resources, all men do okay in the sex department (though the most attractive/fit men obviously have more sex and pass on their genes more often).

When hierarchy was introduced, so too was patriarchy. Only be limiting female power could the society remain functional. Otherwise only the top men would be granted sexual access, and revolt would immediately ensue. By removing all restrictions on female behaviour and simultaneously privileging women in every aspect of life, elites are creating the ingredients for mass revolt.

It doesn't appear that way yet, because as the author notes, women are only now starting to out-earn men. But it's coming.
