Pre-nup survives wife's challenge, female journalist reports it as "man stiffs wife out of alimony and wins right to throw her out" --> Are you telling us that a contract isn't a contract when a woman signs it?

Alimony is a relic from the dark days of the patriarchy. It should be ended completely ... said no Feminist ever.

I can hear the alarms going off at the NOW headquarters.

Yep they got FL, VT, SC to deal with simultaneously. Possibly CA.

Containment is going to be hard.

The arc of the moral universe is long... but I think we're about to hit that downward bend towards justice on the issue of alimony. Equal custody, which is even more important to most men who have children under 18, is going to take longer. But it's coming.

What could POSSIBLY be more Patriarchal than alimony? Isn't 'Smashing the Patriarchy' exactly what Feminists are trying to do? This would be at the top of their list if they really truly meant anything they actually said.

While we're at it, we need to end child support as well for any and all mothers who choose to be single mothers and/or opt out of marriage and/or initiate a divorce.

AND a brilliant new law: Whoever decides to leave a marriage gets.... the clothes on their back and that's it. AND that means if you choose to leave, you're not getting the children either. And who initiates divorce 80% of the time? WOMEN. We would see a HUGE change in our society overnight.

Claim you were 'abused' and using that as the typical female lame excuse? Well, just like any other crime, we're going to need to see real evidence. We're all educated now and know the real truth: Women initiate violence far more than men and women also commit 73% of all the child abuse.

If there was really as much male abuse as women claim, there would be police cars with flashing lights on every street corner 24/7, but there's not because it's all bullshit and no one's buying it anymore.

Time to fling open those blinds and let the SUNSHINE IN! And end to all of the fraud and corruption and violation of men's human rights.

The reforms going through in all these states is not as good as you think it is. What they're calling reform is really just making alimony a guideline like child support is, removing any contextual details and taking any kind of ability for latitude away from the judge.

They are doing away with the concept of lifetime alimony, but in a way that ensures it contiunes in many cases for all intents and purposes. They're doing that by setting duration as part of the guideline, usually something like 50-60% the duration of the marriage. So if you've been married 20 years, divorce when you're 50, you're still going to be basically paying lifetime alimony -- at least up until the point she cashes in her half of your retirement.

In the end, some lifetime alimony is eliminated, but there will be many many more alimony judgements.

You are correct. I understand that's started happening in Massachusetts after their 2013 law went into effect.

They're typically passing them as a package with other "reforms."

There's a particularly draconian measure in NY state that the higher earner (doesn't even specify by how much) will presumptively pay the lawyer fees for both sides. I don't know how that could even be considered ethical. Wives will simply be billing their husbands into oblivion.
