Thank God that poor man was released - and let this be a lesson to everyone as to what false allegations can do.

Now, on to the next matter: how did the prosecutor convince him/her self of this man's guilt, given his fundamental innocence? How did the prosecutor manage to "prove" the "guilt" of someone who was fundamentally innocent? You either prove something true, or false, through evidence and reason, and if that thing is false, you cannot prove it true, supposedly.

Belief has always been the M.O. of imprisonment, especially for rape cases.

Couldn't have said that better, myself.

What a strange question. Shouldn't you be asking how he convinced the jury?

“This can’t happen to other people. It just can’t. It’s injustice.”

The real question is how many others has this already happened to, what percentage of men jailed for rape after evidence free show trials are innocent like this man.

Western society has this bizarre claim to care about human rights and justice...except in it's own parallel injustice system where all the rules are suspended and you have about as much fairness as a trial in North Korea.

...described the assailant as a Latino man with two teardrops tattooed near his left eye... a third victim... described the same tattoo.

Vargas has the faded outline of a [one] teardrop inked under his left eye

The three victims identified him as the man who attacked them.

Several co-workers testified that Vargas had been miles away at work when the attacks occurred.

So... because he was merely similar to the vague description, and because 3 women identified him as being a man they each saw once, ever, in the dark, many months ago, this was apparently enough to convict someone when his co-workers, who knew him well and would actually be likely to recognize him on sight, said that he was elsewhere at the time?
