I've been reading TRP for years. I have come a really long way, and feel better at this point of my life than I could ever imagined - college grades, work prospects, social life are all great. My one problem is my Father; he died when I was in high school. I spent more time with my dad growing up than all of my other family members combined. It's been a couple years and I doubt I will ever get as close to anyone as I was with him. I have been doing everything I can to avoid thinking about him lately but it kills me sometimes, where the grief overwhelms me. I would just do about anything to see him for five minutes again. I understand that I should be grateful to have been part of his life for some time, but it doesn't change the fact that this is taking a toll on me after not thinking about it for so long. Please - you have all steered me straight with genius life advice the past few years, so how can I move on from this? I have triggers that are catching up to me, and I cannot get rid of them.
